Construction of the JCHYPAR, a steel fiber reinforced concrete membrane at the oceanographic park in Valencia
Abstract
The following document describes the construction of a thin shell structure using steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC). The roof called JCHYPAR is a groined vault composed of four hyperbolic paraboloids. Shell thickness equals 6 cm and the distance between opposite supports is around 40 m. This paper will describe the whole construction process of the aforementioned structure. The following items will be analysed: previous characterization tests, shoring process, rebar placement, shotcrete process, curing process and strinking, test program and test results, and final controls and tests.
